Gateway Setup

The first step to make a product available to a reseller using a Redeam Channel Gateway (RCG) is to create a Channel Binding. The channel binding provides the operator an opportunity to specify which subset of Products and Rates should be made available to the RCG.

Every RCG is bound to a reseller’s channel; if the desired channel is not visible, please contact Redeam Support.

Once the Channel Binding has been set up, the reservation system must decide how the reseller’s catalog will reference the bound Products & Rates - either by Product ID, or by Rate ID. Each method is described in detail below.

Product ID Mapping

Using a Product ID, the gateway will attempt to select the Rate ID & Price ID to use based on the information provided in the reseller’s request. At a minimum, the RCG must be provided with a desired booking time (or availability, for a RESERVEDRate) in order to select a Rate ID from a Product with more than one active Rate.

The Price ID is selected by the traveler type in the reseller’s booking request. If two or more Prices on a Rate share the reseller’s desired Traveler Type, the first matching Price on the Rate is selected.

Mapping to a Product ID provides more flexibility over a Rate ID mapping. Additional Rates can be added underneath the Product over time, which can grant the operator more flexibility. However, the RCG must maintain the ability to select one Rate per Booking request from the reseller, so any newly bound Rates must not overlap in validity or availability with other Rates underneath the same Product.

To use Product ID mapping with a RCG-connected reseller, when prompted to input Redeam's product code or reference, insert the ID of the Redeam Product object, prefixed with OTA-Product-.

For example, if the Redeam Product ID is 2aa83dee-c6c6-11ea-ba40-77c51137cf09, the code to input on the reseller's system would be OTA-Product-2aa83dee-c6c6-11ea-ba40-77c51137cf09.

Rate ID Mapping

Mapping reseller catalog products directly to the Rate ID shortcuts the rate-selection logic behind the Product ID mapping, while still utilizing the same price-selection logic. This mapping is more direct than using the Product ID, as the operator no longer needs to worry about overlapping Rate validity / availability. However, binding directly to a single Rate means that any updates to this Product must be made directly to the bound Rate. It is not possible to change the bound Rate without first contacting the reseller.

To use Rate ID mapping with a RCG-connected reseller, when prompted to input Redeam's product code or reference, insert the ID of the Redeam Rate object, without any prefixes or suffixes.
